When it comes to deeper soundscape ambient, the duo Thomas Weiss and Mathias Grassow has something special to offer. “Siberian Winter” -deep winter emotions on land, a tribute to the ultimate force of nature- is a six-track sonic travelogue drawing us into the haunting environment of desolate, ghostly plains, vast frozen landscapes, and extreme weather conditions. The cinematic soundscapes and textures, mixed occasionally with organic sounds or a subtle rhythmic element, are minimal but not heavy or drone-like. Here, things float and dissolve effortlessly while evoking a cool sense of wonder, calm, and serenity. This album -again flavoured with deep nature mysticism- is a must-have if “North Passage” is your cup of tea. |
