“Transparent Planet” offers a beautiful collage of tracks, some of which have appeared on other Numina releases. Three tracks are taken from the album “Dreamsleep”, while two others had already been featured on “Evolving Visions”: an early mix of “Further Entwined”, which sounds considerably rougher here, and “Emerald Nebulae”, of which an earlier version also appeared on “Evolving Visions”. The disc contains 60 minutes of deep, beautiful and at times almost heavenly ambient space soundscapes, ranging from melancholy to mystery. At times, the music is reminiscent of Harold Budd or Jeff Pearce, with the notable exception of “From a Darkened Path”, which clearly stands apart from the rest. Short, experimental/abstract as well as ethnic samples are incorporated into the track, but in my view they disrupt the flow of the peculiar composition. For the rest, Jesse has succeeded in giving both the longer pieces and the two shorter tracks a consistent atmosphere and impact. “Vacant Domain” and “Interlude for K” are particularly worthy of an additional mention. In 2005, another version of the album saw the light of day, though featuring a different track listing.
