Paul Avgerinos – Muse of the Round Sky
CD, Hearts of Space/ Round Sky Music, 1992/2002

This album by Greek bass player Paul Avgerinos has stayed unnoticed for many for a long time, but when it was given extensive radio play on Hearts of Space radio at the start of the ’90, it soon became a classic in the genre.

For the immersive, atmospheric music, Paul drew lots of inspiration out of his own background in Greece and Homerus’ “Odyssey” in particular. On this recording, Paul is joined by the skilled musicians Faruk Teklibek, Ara Dinkjian, Brian Keane and Marion Meadows.

“Muse of the Round Sky” is no collection of easy nor melodic oriented compositions.
It enters the same kind of magical, imaginary worlds as encountered on Banabila & Saka’s “Nightmirror” or Giles Reaves’ “Sea of Glass”.

It’s adventurous, cinematic music for adventurous ears, still remaining a milestone after all these years.
Ten years after its initial release, the album was re-released on Paul’s own Round Sky label.
