The nearly 35-minute “Wild” by Mark Shreeve’s Redshift was physically released in a limited run of 100 hand numbered cd-r’s and sold as an exclusive to the attendees at the Hampshire Jam 2002 concert. The recording comprises the live tracks “Red 1” (from KLEM-dag 1995, The Netherlands) and “subEther” (from the Jodrell Bank concert, UK, 1996) as well as two shorter studio recordings from 1997. Well, the two live-on stage recordings alone justify the purchase of the album, as Mark plays his massive Moog modular between gentle atmospheric passages and chords in a great manner, executing and mixing various dynamic sequencer patterns on “Red 1”. On the fully improvised “subEther”, these sonic elements stay more subdued and atmospheric, which also applies to the emotive, almost intimate “Vega”. “Jupiter Collision” puts an dynamic end to the album with its enticing, fast bass line while the track’s brief melody reminds of Shreeve’s solo work. |
