The dark-flavored “Incubation” is the soundscape outcome created by touch-guitarist Markus Reuter and the accomplished Robert Rich. It was born out of various improvised sessions at Rich’s studio when Markus stayed there for a week, after one of his tours got cancelled. Don’t be deceived by the elegant, gentle atmospheric realms of opener “Erased in Shadow” or the floating “Invisible Lightning” or “Forgotten Creatures”, as the nocturnal-oriented mood explored here also features quite a lot of abstract/impressionist hooks and angles (overall, a tad too much to my liking). In this respect, both sound forgers refer to and consider this 63-minute musical excursion as subterranean, seeking balance inside of dark silence. I suggest to check it out if you dig alienating aural landscapes and introspective ambiences. |
