What I got here is the first release on Brendan Pollard’s own Acoustic Wave label, a recording he made with Jerome Ramsey using the Rogue Element moniker. Having released “Storm Passage” earlier on, this fine release is breathing the sound of vintage electronics through all its veins. Great amounts of mellotron with 30-year old tapes and assorted vintage electronics take the stage on all four tracks, making up a captivating blend of good old Berlin School, featuring long progressive parts merged alongside heavy, driving sequenced sections. Occasionally, they are accompanied by ghostly effects and soundscapes, making up an outcome that can stand firmly next to TD’s mid ’70’s albums. The occasional slight ominous passages -and moments of experiment in particular- remind of TD’s “Sorcerer” and “Phaedra”. All in all, “Premonition” is a must-have for all retro EM aficionados. In the years to follow, the band dissolved rather quietly – mainly due to the fact that Jerome had a very demanding position in the music industry which took up a great deal of his time.
