It has been about four years since Rüdiger’s previous retrospective CD “Chronicle”, was released. With the concept album “Damiana” (Plant of Love), however, Rüdiger proves once again that he is in a class of his own within contemporary electronic music. The first string-like tracks have a slightly minimalist feel to them and are somewhat reminiscent of Philip Glass’s earlier work. From “Coral Sea” onwards, his music becomes completely captivating, sensitive, and sometimes very melancholic, using warm violin and cello sounds alongside sophisticated solo sounds and refined details. In short, this is 50 minutes of wonderfully relaxing enjoyment. Both sound quality and production are top-notch, as is the beautiful cover with silver balls and dolphins above a desert. |
