The five tracks making up “In the Distance” were played live in the studio with an organic approach in mind and only minimal editing to it afterwards. In addition, Danish composer Frank Vilbæk Jensen focused on achieving a relaxed atmosphere and mindfulness mood across the dub-downtempo and floating textural tracks of the album, imagining sitting and staring at the horizon while watching bigger and smaller dramatic changes occur in nature.
Well, there’s a cool and rather timeless vibe to the 28-minute outcome that starts out subdued dynamic before journeying onward gentle, mellow and effortless during its slow transformation. The best is kept for the end as mood and textures submerge fluidly into ethereal tranquility.
