Created across 2025 and 2026, “Loom” is an 18-track ambient sphere painting by State Azure (aka Patrick Unsworth). Spanning 49 minutes, this minimalist ambient release unfolds as an immersive and dreamlike soundscape, characterized by a profound sense of stillness and imagination, subtly enhanced by occasional, softly integrated sequencing. As with much of State Azure’s work, the album demonstrates an exceptionally thoughtful approach to sound design. Its spacious textures and otherworldly atmosphere evoke the wondrous realms of Vangelis’ “Blade Runner” -though here, the dystopian tension and darker currents are notably absent, replaced by a more contemplative and serene sensibility. Among the album’s many highlights are the title track, alongside “The Small Hours”, “Ghost Particle”, “Surface of Thought”, and “Sleep Now”. Together, they underline “Loom’s” ability to create a quietly absorbing listening experience that feels both expansive and deeply introspective. |
