I was a bit disappointed by Mr. Huddleston’s previous release, “A Warm Static Sphere”, due to a veil of dissonance. The 6-track “Night Language” -inspired by Berlin School era electronic music, by artists such as Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze- is a different story of contemporary ambient, delivering an energetic twist on the usual 36 sound: a lush electronic dreamscape unfolds here, blending the intimate, expansive, and nostalgic to a cohesive, beautiful whole. More than once, the realm of TD’s “Love on a Real Train” is near. The recording’s sonic signature is a display of evocative and warm synth washes, infectious melodic lines, and thrilling sequenced patterns, together painting images before the mind’s eye while spreading a smooth sense of harmony and calm throughout. “Night Language” is your go-to (headphone) recording if you want to immerse into emotive- twilight atmospheres or simply detach from all the buzz from the nowadays world. Well done, Dennis! |
