Ralf Gülpen’s 127-minute “Space Symphony” is an ambient project through space and time for which his friend Winfried Schüller narrated the prologue in German. Thereafter, using AI, Mr. Schuller’s voice was used for brief texts introducing the various planets. Here, an imaginative journey through the vast cosmos presents itself, where all freeform synth textures and sound effects evolve and shapeshift in a slow, calm fashion as we drift effortlessly past various moons and planets. I’d say this is quite enchanting headphone music featuring the TiRa sonic trademark, as known from Ralf’s previous releases. Especially the “Earth” piece impressed me with its immersive, uplifting, and floating sound design. “Space Symphony” is released on Bandcamp as well as through Groove as a download, next to a special edition on two sticks, one containing the album and one featuring a video for the album. |
