Various Artists – Ping Ambience 2
CD-R, Private Release, 2004

This is the second sampler of the Canadian Ambient Ping concert series, this time filled with 13 studio tracks from the same amount of musicians.

The disc starts with a weak piece from dreamSTATE, but track two sounds much better with the beautiful textural soundscapes of Alpha Wave Movement, a track I wished would have been longer.
Sylken comes next with the rather nice & floating The Light Unseen”, followed by a quiet guitar piece by one Paul Royes.

Again, the music of Anomalous Disturbances made me think of an instrumental one by David Sylvian, where after Earotica and Solipsystem offer quiet, decent soundscapes.
The next tracks by Karmafarm, Aidan Baker and Spyrohead sound rather restless and unquiet to my ears.

I expected somewhat the same with the music by URM, but his dark-shaded soundscape is above average, which also applies to the track by voice-artist Sara Ayers.
James Johnson’s “Broken” closes the album, showing some resemblance with Brian Eno’s ambient composition “Familiar Wind”.
