Various Artists – Texture -A Compilation of Minimal Ambient Guitar-
CD-R, SloBor Media, 2003

“Texture” -A Compilation of Minimal Ambient Guitar- was the debut album of the SloBor media label, started by Matt Borghi and Jason Sloan in 2002.

The 70-minute release offers a selection of (mostly previously unreleased) music from a global range of ambient artists. The latter all created an electronic sounding outcome with the guitar as only source of sound while applying all kinds of processing and treatment techniques for mapping out their textural, carefully layered ambiences.

The list of 13 contributors contains names such as Jeff Pearce, Markus Reuter, Exuviae, Anomalous Disturbances, Tony Gerber, Remco Helbers (offering the title track of his album “On some Road”) and Numina among unknown talents like Alan Imberg, True Colour of Blood or Mike Bennett. Of the 13 takes, I personally feel the pieces by Anomalous Disturbances, Numina, Jeff Pearce and Remco Helbers are exceptional beauties of introspective ambient spaces.

Check of this release if you have a knack for spherical electronic soundscapes.
