In the past, the duo Frans Ramakers and Ruud Grothausen released some very nice melodic electronic music, most of which saw the light of day on cassette, aside from one CD in 1995. The project’s goal back then (complex but still remaining very accessible) still shines through on the pleasant realm created on the fresh-sounding 75-minute “Forest Impressions”. The seven thoughtfully made tracks making up the latter feature an alchemy of catchy sequencing, assorted rhythms, and warm melodic pads that, on the strong opener “Greenred Waters”, remind quite a bit of Pyramid Peak’s quality music. Further into the well-produced, mixed, and mastered album, slices of Schulze and Software fly by, also. There’s even a lovely sense of nostalgia shimmering through its sonic leaves, lending a soft glow to the inspired, gentle sparkling and sometimes even slightly dramatic outcome. The title track puts a jolly ending to it all. Nice going, guys! |
