When it comes to contemporary electronic music, the works of Colin Rayment fit in there for sure. The outcome found on “Optical Perceptions” is a thoughtfully made set of music with an occasional edge of modern Tangerine Dream, featuring some various nice pairs of interlocking, quite complex sequences accompanied by warm, often lush, wandering synth pads and a transparent, detailed sound design. The rhythmically driven pieces are found in the second half of the recording, which rounds out with a (bonus)track Colin contributed to the “Schallplatte 2: Architektur” disc. All in all, “Optical Perceptions” is a nice piece of work and will, without doubt, be appreciated by many. |
